Lugnaquillia Mountain

Last sunday was the first warm day of the year and I decided to check out the area where we recently moved to, and take the dogs for a walk in the hills on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains.
I planned only to walk up the first hill with the dogs, look around, lie in the grass and chill out a bit. I should have checked the map of course as it turned out to be the actual slope of the mountain.
Once I realized this I din't want to turn 'round and continued up till a few hundred meters past this point on the picture.
There were whole groups of hikers passing me by fully equiped with everything, including food...and drinks... I didn't climb up all to the top 'cause I hadn't brought any food or drinks and my legs got a bit shaky and because I'm an idiot.
Luckily Ipassed a nice hiker called Damien who was just having a brake and he offered me some of his Lucozade sports drink and some yellies. It gave me just enough energy to make it back down again. I keep doing these stupid things..
Anyway, it was great and I will surely go back very soon

Thursday, 29 November 2007

I gave this old rough sketch some colour.

I designed this beaver and toucan in the hope I could sell them to the
german telivision channel Kinder Kanal in '98 when they wanted 2 new logo animals for their program.
I never heard of them of course.
Anyway, after 9 years I decided to put them into a forest setting.
My girlfriend, who is also a 2D compositor thinks it
doesn't work 'cause the composition is way too messy.
She's probably right. I've posted it anyway.

old stuff 2

I haven't had much time lately to sketch new stuff, but I did find some old stuff that I quite liked and hadn't seen for ages.
(Above)These are a few concept sketches for a shortfilm I wanted to make since '97 about a bunch of pigs escaping from a truck on its way to the slaughter house.

And this is a very old doodle of a rapper.

vegetarian barbeque

I was at a vegetarian barbeque two weeks ago hostet by my friend Ross Stewart(leaning against the wall on the left talking with Tom who just finished his feature debut as a director on "Brendan and the book of Kells", a wonderful animationfilm you must see when it comes out. Ross was the art director on it and has gone back to painting and burning beanburgers). Sitting on the couch are on the left my very good canadian/scottisch friend Gordon Mc Bride( storyboardartist and layout supervisor on "Skunkfu!") in the middle Ross's brother Mark and on the right Nils The systemadministrator at the Cartoonsaloon.

Right, now, spot the vegetarian in this picture.

Ancora Jetzt Digital

A still from a cinemacommercial that I made in 2004 in Munich.

video

Okay here it is. It's in german of course...

It's a commercial made for a company( called Ancora) who sells commercial time in quite a few cinema's in the south of Germany. It tells how complex making commercial changes were in the old analoge cinema's and how easy it is in the new digital (Ancora)cinema's. blablabla..Quite abstract. a bit weird to make a commercial about that.

This is one of my favorite places to go for a walk with the dogs: Kilfarrasybeach near Tramore.
Annestown beach on the left. Walking and climbimbing over the rocks twds the left will bring you onto a large desolate beach. You need a local tide booklet though, available at Dingley's shop in Dunmore east, because you can't walk around once the tide comes back in. In thatcase you must climb up a cliffpath.

Walking on Kilfarrasybeach.

Low tide at Kilfarrasybeach, near Tramore, county Waterford.

Walking here is an awesome experience.

I live here!
